NM drive-by shooting claims life of Colorado dog

FARMINGTON, N.M. — A drive-by shooting in northwestern New Mexico has claimed the life of a Denver couple’s dog.

The Daily Times reports that the shooting occurred Thursday while Estevan Quintana was walking three dogs along a dirt road in the Crouch Mesa area of San Juan County.

Quintana said he was walking farther from the road than the dogs, but he saw a rifle pointed from a window of a tan F-150 pickup and heard a shot.

Quintana then heard his 2-year-old Pomeranian named Samson whimper and saw it totter and fall dead.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Devon Dollar says it’s unlikely the two men seen in the truck will be identified because Quintana didn’t catch the license plate.
