Off-duty Boulder police officer accused of DUI
BOULDER — An off-duty Boulder police officer is on administrative leave after she was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk in Thornton.
Police say officer Elizabeth Ward was driving on Interstate 25 on Tuesday when a Thornton police officer responding to a report of a drunk driver found Ward pulled off the road. Police say Ward told them she was drunk and she was still wearing her police uniform.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Thornton police took a sample a sample of Ward’s blood and issued her a summons for weaving and DUI. She was then released into the custody of a Boulder police sergeant rather than booked into jail.
