One killed, one injured in El Jebel shooting

One person was killed and another is in the hospital in critical condition following a double shooting this morning in El Jebel south of Glenwood Springs, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of screaming and gunshots in the Missouri Heights area and found one person dead and another who had suffered a gunshot wound, Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jessie Mosher said. That person was taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs and is currently in critical condition.

Mosher declined to release any information about the two people but said there is no immediate threat to anybody in the area. The shooting is under investigation.

El Jebel is a small, unincorporated community off Colorado Highway 82 about 20 miles southeast of Glenwood.
