One snowmobiler dead on Grand Mesa

One man is dead following a single-vehicle snowmobiling accident today on Grand Mesa.

The 31-year-old Illinois man, who will not be identified until his family is notified of his death, was with a large group of snowmobilers this morning when the accident happened near Electric Mountain Lodge north of Paonia, according to Delta County Sheriff’s Department Sheriff Fred McKee. St. Mary’s Care Flight was called to pick up the man and take him to Grand Junction. He was taken to Delta County Memorial Hospital instead after Care Flight workers determined he was deceased, according to McKee.
