Palisade man killed in Rifle-area crash
A Palisade man died Wednesday when his vehicle went out of control on a curve and was broadsided by another vehicle near Rifle.
The Colorado State Patrol today said Eric Jensen, 26, was pronounced dead on the scene.
It said Jensen was driving north on Garfield County Road 319 around 6:26 a.m. Wednesday when the accident occurred. The 1991 Acura Integra he was driving was struck by a southbound, 1985 Jeep Cherokee driven by Justin Robinson, 37, of Rifle. Robinson was taken to Grand River Hospital in Rifle with non-life-threatening injuries.
No one else was in the vehicles.
The State Patrol said speeding may have contributed to the crash but it remains under investigation. It said both men had seatbelts on, but Jensen wasn’t wearing his properly.
