Palisade on road for playoffs
Palisade High School opens the Class 3A state football playoffs this weekend at seventh-seeded Evergreen. Game dates and times will be announced Monday by the schools.
The Bulldogs (8-3) received the No. 10 seed in the 16-team field. Rifle (10-0) is the No. 4 seed and hosts Roosevelt, with Battle Mountain seeded ninth and playing at No. 8 D’Evelyn.
Montrose received the No. 6 seed in Class 4A and hosts Greeley West. Durango, despite losing its final regular-season game Friday to Montrose, got in the playoffs as the No. 15 seed and is at No. 2 Monarch.
In Class 2A, Olathe received the No. 8 seed and opens defense of its state title at home against The Academy. Aspen is seeded No. 12 and plays at Eaton.
Grand Junction, the No. 2 seed in Class 5A, plays at 7 p.m. Friday against Chaparral at Sports Authority Stadium, formerly Burt.com Stadium, at Douglas County High School, 11901 Newlin Gulch Blvd. in Parker.
