Paonia wraps up title before title matches
Paonia High School wrapped up their second straight Class 2A State Wrestling Championship before tonight’s state finals. The Colorado State Wrestling Championships conclude tonight at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
The Eagles, with 201.5 points, lead second place Hghland with 131 points. Meeker currently is in 11th place with 54.5 points and the Cowboys have T.J. Shelton wresting in tonight’s state finals.
Paonia tied four other schools for the most state medal winners (top six finish) with their 11 individual state placers.
Other schools with 11 medals winners are: 1945 Denver North, 1993 Brighton, 1994 Moffat Couty and 1999 Wiggins.
