Pedestrian dies after being dragged by car

AURORA — A male pedestrian is dead after he was hit by one vehicle and then dragged by another on an Aurora avenue.

Police Lt. Chuck DeShazer says the crash occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday after the pedestrian got off a bus at East Mississippi Avenue and South Havana Street.

He says the pedestrian was crossing the street when he was hit by a gold SUV and knocked into the path of a Toyota Corolla, and then got stuck underneath it.

The Toyota’s driver was unaware of what happened and drove a ways further until a passerby flagged her down.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital where he died.

DeShazer says the gold SUV left the scene.

Police did not release any names but say it’s unlikely that the Toyota driver would face any charges.
