Pipe bomb parts found in Denver-area apartment

WESTMINSTER — Police say they found unassembled components of a pipe bomb in an apartment in the northwest Denver suburb of Westminster.

Authorities tell the Denver Post bomb squad members discovered the components Friday.

Police said via Twitter they are questioning a man and that officers are using a robot to inspect a car he was driving. A police spokesman didn’t immediately return a call.

Authorities evacuated at least four apartment buildings and later reopened some of them. At least one business was also evacuated.

Meanwhile, Denver police say a suspicious package discovered near Colorado’s main judicial building Friday was inspected and found to be harmless.

The building, which includes the state Supreme Court, was locked down for about an hour and a busy street was closed. Both have been reopened.
