Police arrest second in Cabela’s rifle theft
The Grand Junction Police Department made another arrest in connection with Tuesday’s theft of two rifles from Cabela’s at Mesa Mall.
Adam James Rodriguez, 22, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of theft of between $2,000 and $5,000 from a building and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after he was identified on video surveillance of the theft and his image from video was matched against prior booking photos, according to his arrest affidavit.
Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of an unrelated shoplifting incident Thursday when he was questioned about Tuesday’s theft at Cabela’s. He reportedly admitted to being present and knew Florencio Gonzalez, 16, who was arrested Tuesday, had stolen the rifles, but Rodriguez denied seeing the thefts.
Video footage did not support that denial, the affidavit said.
