Police: Father complicit in Glen Road shooting, bat beating
The father of a suspected gunman accused in an armed confrontation earlier this month on Glen Road has been arrested for his alleged involvement.
Michael Renteria Sr., 47, was booked yesterday at the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of complicity to commit attempted murder, assault, burglary, and menacing, among other charges, all relating to a Feb. 16 incident in the front yard of 476 Glen Road which left one man shot and three others injured with baseball bats.
Michael Renteria Jr., 21, was arrested Feb. 16 as the alleged shooter who wounded 37-year-old Frank Rodriguez, in what court records suggest started as a child-custody dispute. Investigation showed his father allegedly was armed with a baseball bat and drove up to the home. Two other men and a woman at the address were injured by bat-wielding suspects.
A third suspect was believed to be with the Renterias, while the police department continues to investigate the case.
After allegedly shooting Rodriguez, Renteria Jr. fled the area in a vehicle but not before witnesses said he fired several additional shots.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call 242-6707, or Mesa County Crime Stoppers, 241-STOP.
