Powder day at Powderhorn, across state
The fast-moving storm Sunday night that brought slick roads and glazed windshields to Grand Junction also brought snow to ski resorts and smiles to skiers and boarders.
Powderhorn this morning reported 19 inches of new snow, bringing its base total to 64 inches.
That was second in the state only to Steamboat, which reported 27 inches of new snow. That resort’s midway base is 75 inches.
Both were well ahead of the rest of the state’s ski resorts, which reported anywhere from 1 inch of new snow at A-Basin to 14 inches at Wolf Creek, whose midway base now is 96 inches.
Other ski resorts reporting significant amounts of new snow included Telluride (9 new, 63 inch base); Monarch, (9 new, 55 inch base); and Aspen Mountain (7 new, 38-inch base).
