Public shooting range to close half day on June 7

The public shooting range on 27 1/4 road will be closed from 6 a.m. until noon June 7 to allow live-fire training for law enforcement officers.
The shooting range, managed by the Grand Junction Field Office of the BLM, is located approximately six miles north of Grand Junction Regional Airport.
The range consists of a pistol emphasis area and a 1,000-meter rifle range, which has 12 sheltered shooting benches.
The range generally is open every day to the public without charge, from sunrise to dusk, except when being maintained or used for special events or firearms training.
A dedicated group of local volunteers donate hundreds of hours annually at the range, installing and maintaining range signs and picking up illegally dumped trash.
For more information about volunteering for BLM, contact BLM volunteer coordinator Fran Parker at 244-3024.
