Pueblo judge unseals Harry Mapps arrest affidavit

PUEBLO — A judge has unsealed the arrest affidavit for a man accused of killing three people in Pueblo County and setting their house on fire.

The Pueblo Chieftain reported that District Judge William Alexander issued his ruling Tuesday over the objections of Harry Mapps’ defense lawyer.

The Chieftain obtained a copy of the affidavit last month and reported that it said that the three victims were dead at least five hours before their home in Rye was set on fire.

It also reported that the document said Mapps was about to be kicked out of the home before the murders.

Public defender Daniel Zettler said the some of the information is speculative and wrong and it doesn’t adequately note Mapps’ lack of a criminal history and his military record.
