Rainy days on tap for valley

A hot, dry start to September is giving way to a rainy stretch, as monsoonal moisture returns to the Grand Valley this week.

Heavy rain that fell in the area this morning is expected to be followed by more rain this afternoon and evening. Street flooding was reported in several areas, including at Seventh Street and Riverside Parkway. As of 11 a.m., the city of Grand Junction had closed Seventh Street for a few blocks to the north of Riverside Parkway due to the deep, standing water.

The National Weather Service has forecasted a 70 percent chance of rain today in Grand Junction and a high of 73 degrees. There’s a chance of rain each day through at least Thursday.
