Red Mountain Pass open again

The road over Red Mountain Pass in Ouray County is fully open again, after weeks of rock scaling work was recently completed, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

New rockfall fencing has been installed on the steep pass above the town of Ouray, along U.S. Highway 550, and while work was being completed traffic was only sporadically allowed over the pass. As of Monday night, the pass has been reopened to thru-traffic without restrictions.

CDOT still recommends checking cotrip.org before setting out over the pass.
