Remains found in Garfield County identified

Test results from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation released today show the human remains found last Friday four miles east of Battlement Mesa along County Road 309 are those of Mary Comiskey.

Comiskey disappeared in December 2005. Her brother told the Daily Sentinel after the remains were found that he believed the remains belonged to his sister because she disappeared in that area and her jacket was found near County Road 309.

DNA analysis confirmed the remains were Comiskey’s. Her family has been notified of the test results. The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department will continue an investigation into Comiskey’s cause of death.
