Report of gun in car near CHS causes lockdown

Central High School was briefly locked down this morning after a teenager reported seeing a firearm in a vehicle near the school, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies searched the area but couldn’t find the vehicle. The school locked down starting around 10:30 a.m. before resuming normal operations around 11 a.m. Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Heather Benjamin said it wasn’t clear if vehicle in question was ever on school grounds.
