Rifle cop wounded by gunfire

A Rifle police officer was shot Friday night while responding to a domestic-violence call in the city of Rifle.

The shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m., according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department, which issued a news release via e-mail at approximately 10:30 p.m. and said the officer was in good condition.

The lone suspect in the shooting was arrested, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the officer or the suspect. It released no other details about the shooting or the domestic-violence incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
