Small plane crashes in Pueblo, Romney cancels stop
PUEBLO — Authorities say one person was killed in a small plane crash at the Pueblo airport, prompting the cancellation of a campaign visit by presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
City airport director Mark Lovin tells The Pueblo Chieftain (http://bit.ly/QRlESU ) the experimental plane crashed while landing at Pueblo Memorial Airport at about 8:20 a.m. Sunday, killing the pilot, the only person on board. The pilot’s name has not been released.
Romney was set to visit the nearby Weisbrod Aircraft Museum on Sunday afternoon, and the campaign has not announced whether the rally will be rescheduled. The crash also prompted the Obama campaign to cancel an event in Pueblo on Sunday featuring local leaders speaking in opposition of Romney.
