School bus rolls over on U.S. Highway 50

A school bus has rolled over on U.S. Highway 50 near the Mesa County-Delta County line this morning, although it appears no children are on board.

Initial police dispatch reports indicate that one person was aboard the bus and complaining of back pain. The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. on U.S. 50 around mile marker 53 or 54. It wasn’t immediately clear to which school district the bus belonged.

This morning’s snow on the Western Slope has triggered several accidents as roads have become slick with ice and slush. The snow should end later this morning, with Grand Junction’s high temperature reaching 38 degrees this afternoon.
