Severe turbulence grounds plane at GJ airport, injures 3

A Skywest Canadair flight on approach to Salt Lake City was forced to land at Grand Junction Regional Airport Wednesday night, after experiencing severe turbulence that injured 3 passengers.

According to reports, flight OO-4620 from Helena, Mont., to Salt Lake City, with 32 passengers, was on approach to Salt Lake City at about 11,000 feet when the airplane encountered severe turbulence. The crew then made the decision to divert to Grand Junction, and landed about an hour later.

Federal officials confirmed three passengers with minor injuries, but none of them required medical assistance beyond initial contact with responders.
