‘Show Us Your Brave’ pride festival coming next week
Colorado West Pride invites you to bare your brave during the second LGBTQ Pride Festival and Street Fair set for Thursday through Sunday, May 15–18.
“Show Us Your Brave” is this year’s festival theme that will feature an off-Broadway production, parade and family-friendly street fair.
The festival will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, with the stage production of “Celebrities Off The Page,” based on the off-Broadway sensation “Celebrity Autobiography.” The comedy show will be at the Mesa Experimental Theatre in Colorado Mesa University’s Moss Performing Arts Center. The show is rated R for adult language and situations. Tickets cost $12.
The festival continues Friday, May 16, with The White Party, a dance at Mesa Theater and Lounge, 538 Main St. Dress in your brightest whites and enjoy cocktails in the lounge at 8 p.m. before the DJ starts spinning at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $12 and the event is for those ages 18 and older.
The Rainbow Party — featuring kings and queens of drag — will be Saturday, May 17, at Mesa Theater and Lounge. Tickets cost $12 for those 18 and older. RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants Tammie Brown, Dida Ritz and Jiggly Caliente will be featured at a meet-and-greet event. Tickets for the meet-and-greet are limited and can be purchased separately or as part of the $30 VIP Pride Pass.
The festival will conclude Sunday, May 18, with the Grand Junction Pride Parade on Main Street and a free street fair at Sixth Street and Rood Avenue. The parade begins at 12:30 p.m. traveling from Second Street to Sixth Street. Applications for parade participants are at coloradowestpride.org.
The family-friendly street fair, from 1–6 p.m., will have speakers, local and regional entertainers, vendors and a separate beer garden.
