Ski analysts worried about recession

VAIL — Western ski industry analysts say they’re worried the recession with hurt this year’s ski season.

Industry analyst Ralf Garrison says consumers don’t like economic uncertainty and they’re less likely to spend money on vacations.

Vail Resorts analyst Will Marks of JMP Securities says revenue projections are positive because of new amenities at the company’s resorts, including a a new restaurant at Mid-Vail and new terrain at Northstar-at-Tahoe. He says if the downturn gets worse, destination traffic could slow down.

According to the Vail Daily, lessons from the past show consumers tend to wait for deals before booking their vacations when the economy is unstable.
