Small plane crashes near Durango, 2 injured
DURANGO — The crash of a single engine plane has left its pilot and his passenger with minor injuries.
La Plata County Sheriff’s spokesman Dan Bender says the Cessna 172D had just taken off from Animas Airpark Sunday morning when it lost power.
KMGH-TV reports that the pilot put the plane down in a field a half-mile east of the airpark. It landed on top of old brush and debris.
The two weren’t identified and there was no word on what caused the loss of power.
The airpark is located just south of Durango.
