Snowmass to open five days early
Snowmass Ski Resort announced today the area will kick off its 2011-2012 ski season on Nov. 19, five days ahead of the scheduled opening.
“The 2011-2012 season has started as a talented overachiever with near perfect snowmaking temperatures and abundant natural snowfall,” said Rich Burkley, vice president of mountain operations.
The Village Express and Big Burn lifts will be accessing more than 160 acres of skiable terrain. The Sky Cab Gondola and the Ski School Magic Carpet also will be in operation.
Other terrain will open as snow conditions permit, Burkley said.
Lifts will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Aspen Mountain is scheduled to open to the public on Nov. 24.
