Some stolen cookie money returned to Girl Scouts

WESTMINSTER — Some Colorado Girl Scouts who had their cookie proceeds stolen have recovered some of the money.

Arvada Troop 3034 reported that about $400 was stolen from the girls at the end of a sales drive at a Safeway in Westminster on Friday. On Monday, police said someone turned in some money reportedly found in the area where the theft occurred.

Police aren’t saying how much money was turned in, just that it wasn’t the full amount stolen.

On top of that, viewers of a KUSA-TV story about the theft have donated more than enough money to make up for the theft. Girl Scouts of Colorado is recommending that those who want to help purchase cookies from another troop.
