Mesa hosting mountain bike festival
The Colorado Mesa University cycling team is hosting a mountain bike racing festival this weekend.
A short-course race begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Little Park Road trail head on the flats off the main parking lot. Sunday, a 3.1-mile loop on the Gunny Flats at Little Park Road trail head begins at 8 a.m.
On both days, a men’s and women’s open division follows the collegiate races. Saturday afternoon, the college cyclists will race on a dual slalom course on private property on Glade Park.
Rain postpones Thursday’s action
Thursday’s rain washed out softball games all over the Western Slope.
Palisade High School’s Western Slope League game at Rifle were rained out Thursday and rescheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Rifle. Grand Junction’s Southwestern League games at Durango and Cortez were rained out, and today’s game at Cortez has been moved to Kronkright Park, with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The schools are still trying to reschedule Thursday’s games between the Tigers and Durango.
Central loses to Eagle Valley
Central lost its fourth straight match, falling 25-19, 25-20, 34-32 at Eagle Valley.
The Warriors (4-9, 2-3 Southwestern League) were led by Robbie Termentozzi’s six kills and four blocks.
Demi Ruder added 14 digs and an ace.
