Streaking Iowa Western jumps to No. 1 in latest JUCO poll
Iowa Western Community College won 17 consecutive games to open the 2012 baseball season.
On March 24, the Reivers, the 2010 Alpine Bank Junior College World Series champions, lost 7-3 to Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College.
They’ve since won 17 more in a row and jumped into the No. 1 spot in the NJCAA Division I baseball poll.

Central Alabama (30-6) moved up two spots to No. 2, followed by Louisburg (N.C.) College (39-60, Cisco (Texas) College (30-7) and Columbia State (Tenn.) Community College.
Jefferson (Mo.) College (28-7) is ranked sixth, with Salt Lake Community College (27-5) seventh, Howard (Texas) College (27-7) eighth, Walters State (Tenn.) Community College (34-5) ninth and Santa Fe (N.M.) College (32-9) and Seminole (Okla.) State (24-8) tied for 10th.
Defending national champion Navarro (Texas) College (26-11) dropped out of the top 20 after being No. 16 two weeks ago, but is among teams receiving votes.
The JUCO World Series is May 26-June 2 at Suplizio Field.
