Sunlight plans early opening

A weekend storm that dumped 8 inches on Sunlight Mountain has the report planning an opening on Wednesday. This marks the first time since the 2002-03 ski season that the resort has opened early.

According to a press release, the mountain will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 24 through Nov. 28. The mountain will be closed Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 and will re-open with a 7-day-a-week schedule beginning on Dec. 3. Lift tickets will be $40 for adults and $30 for children. No half-day tickets will be available, and all services will be available including ski and snowboard school and ski and snowboard rentals.

Officials say that the west side of the mountain will be almost completely open while the east side of the mountain will still need a little more snow. The forecast is calling for more snow to fall between today and Wednesday.
