RSSSuplizio Field receives Field of Year award
Suplizio Field is the Colorado Sports Turf Managers Association 2009 Field of the Year.
The award recognizes outstanding turf sports facilities and the staff who work hard to maintain it, according to the city of Grand Junction release.
The City of Grand Junction crew is led by Eddie Mort, Marc Mancuso, Ryan Dennison and Bill Johnson.
Suplizio Field was constructed in 1949 and seats 11,000. The field was honored as the top amateur baseball facility in the country by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1998. It has hosted the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series since 1958.
