Suspect arrested in Bradley Sinclair armed robbery

A suspect in Saturday’s armed robbery of a North Avenue gas station was arrested in the predawn hours of this morning, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

James Rucker, 30, 543 N 20th St., was contacted by officers in the 1700 block of North Avenue after he was observed to be wearing clothing that matched what witnesses reported the suspect wearing during Saturday’s incident, the department said in a news release. Rucker had already been identified as a suspect in the case. The release said Rucker had a loaded, concealed handgun when he was arrested which matched a description of the weapon used Saturday.

Rucker was booked at 3:20 a.m. at the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, menacing, theft, possession of a weapon by a prior offender and illegally carrying a concealed weapon.

An investigation is ongoing.

A clerk at Bradley Sinclair, 233 North Ave., told police a suspect demanded money while displaying a black handgun around 12:35 a.m. Saturday, before fleeing with cash.
