Teen boys accused of taking car from two young women

Grand Junction police are looking for three teenage boys accused of stealing a car from two women early Sunday morning.

The women, who were in their late teens or early 20s, were driving in the area of 15th Street and Orchard Avenue around 3 a.m. when they came upon the boys walking in the street, police Sgt. Kevin Imbriaco said.

The women stopped the vehicle after the boys wouldn’t get out of the way. One of the boys then jumped on the hood and roof of the car, Imbriaco said.

The women then got out of the vehicle to confront the boys. A third boy struck the car with an object, then jumped into the car, picked up the other two boys and drove off, Imbriaco said. The women weren’t injured.

“The moral of this story is don’t get out of the car and confront people,” he said.

The vehicle was later found abandoned and wrecked in Clifton.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Grand Junction police at 970-244-3555 or Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 970-241-STOP.
