Three held in overnight Clifton burglary, robbery
Three men were arrested early this morning in an alleged plot involving weapons to rob cash and drugs from a Clifton home.
Matthew Strawn, 24, Matthew Parks, 24, and Chad Roling, 22, were booked into the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, burglary and misdemeanor assault, among other charges following an incident reported just after 11 p.m. Wednesday at 3209 Opal Court, unit 1.
According to arrest affidavits, Roling told deputies he knew a man who lives at the residence kept a safe with money and marijuana. Roling said he was at the residence between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., before leaving and telling his brother, Strawn, and Parks, that only three people were home.
Strawn and Parks went inside the home, where they allegedly hit a man with an air gun and struck another with a baseball bat, affidavits said. Parks was “detained” by one of the alleged victims before officers arrived, while Strawn and Roling were contacted and arrested at other locations, the affidavits said.
Brass knuckles believed to be tied to the incident were also recovered.
