Tipton, Udall start writing bill to change Monument status

A committee of Grand Valley residents will begin writing a bill intended to confer park status on Colorado National Monument with the hope that drafting legislation will win over some who have withheld support.

There is no deadline for a committee of five to come up with a bill, U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, and U.S. Sen. Mark Udall said today after meeting with committee members near the visitor center and overlook into Monument Valley.

Read a full story on today’s events on the monument in Sunday’s newspaper.
