2 bodies found in plane wreck in Colo. mountains

WOLCOTT — Authorities say two people have been found dead in the wreckage of a small plane in the Colorado mountains.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Department says the victims were found today. Their names haven’t been released.

The plane’s registered owner lives in Brownwood, Texas, but it’s unknown whether the owner was aboard when it crashed.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kris Friel says authorities confirmed the wreckage was a twin-engine Beech 60 Duke that disappeared from radar on Wednesday when it was preparing to land at the Eagle County airport.

A National Guard helicopter crew located the wreckage today about 3 1/2 miles north of Edwards and 80 miles west of Denver.

The plane crashed in steep terrain at an elevation of about 10,800 feet.
