Two displaced by early morning GJ house fire

Two adults were displaced this morning after a fire that damaged a home and attached garage at 628 Melody Lane, the Grand Junction Fire Department said in a release.

Residents were awakened by a loud noise from the garage and a neighbor knocking on the front door of the residence, before firefighters were called at 6:49 a.m.

The fire started in a corner of the garage set aside for candle making, the release said.

There were no injuries, but the two adults at the property were forced from the home and provided assistance by the Western Colorado Red Cross. The cause remains under investigation.
