Update: Victims identified in fatal early morning crash

An accident at I-70 b and 30 Road killed two early Thursday morning.

Update: The male occupant of the car involved in a fatal crash this morning has been identified as Dustin Lamb of Fruita. The female occupant has been identified as 23-year-old Michaela Kahle of Montrose.

The Mesa County Coroner further reports that both of them died due to blunt-force trauma after being ejected from the vehicle. Toxicology results also showed both were intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Two people, including a Fruita resident, were killed early this morning in a rollover accident at the intersection of the Interstate 70 Business Loop and 30 Road, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. when a 2008 Subaru sedan, westbound on I-70B, lost control and rolled, ejecting at least one person, according to Trooper Josh Lewis.

Lewis said he didn’t have any more details yet about the crash. The identities of the people killed haven’t been released yet, pending notification of next of kin. Lewis said there were no other vehicles or parties involved in the crash.

The intersection of 30 Road and I-70B was closed for about six hours while troopers investigated the accident and cleaned up the scene.
