UPDATE: Power restored to Dos Rios

Power and phone service were restored to Dos Rios Elementary School as of 11:30 a.m., according to School District 51’s website.

The district reported at d51schools.org that the school lost power and regular use of its phone system at 9:45 a.m. today. The cafeteria has power and lunch will take place as scheduled. Classrooms also have power but phone, computer and internet service or either unavailable or working on a limited basis, according to the district. As of 10:30 a.m., the school was operating on generator power.

The outage was due to an Xcel Energy issue in the Orchard Mesa neighborhood around the school.
