Valley areas under dense fog advisory

Several lower-elevation, valley areas of western Colorado, including the Grand Valley, will be under a dense-fog advisory tonight through Tuesday morning, meaning motorists should expect poor visibility and possible icy road conditions.

The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. today to 9 a.m. Tuesday for the Grand Valley, the Interstate 70 corridor from De Beque to Silt, U.S. Highway 50 from Grand Junction to Montrose, Colorado Highway 92 east of Delta and the Yampa River Basin, according to the National Weather Service.

Visibility will drop to less than a quarter-mile at times and icy conditions are possible as the fog freezes on road surfaces.

After a mixture of rain and snow today in Grand Junction, conditions are expected to dry out and temperatures will rise the remainder of this week. Grand Junction could reach the 50s by Thursday.
