Van Gundy’s salvage business sold

Western Metals Recycling purchased local automotive salvage and metal recycling business Van Gundy’s AMPCO Inc. on Monday.

Western is owned by Cincinnati-based The David J. Joseph Company, a subsidiary of steel manufacturing business Nucor Corporation. The David J. Joseph Company is a scrap broker and processor that acquired Van Gundy’s to strengthen its core recycling business, according to a press release.

Van Gundy’s opened in 1929 and moved to its current location at 645 Fourth Ave. in 2006.
