UPDATE: Verizon Wireless service restored after 1 p.m.
Verizon Wireless service was restored to at least some customers in western Colorado around 1:15 p.m. today.
Service had been down for customers in Colorado and southern Wyoming since 2 a.m., Verizon spokesman Bob Kelley said.
“We’re working on it diligently and apologize for the outage,” Kelley said.
Customers from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs did not have a disruption of service, Kelley said.
The numbers of Verizon Wireless customers in Colorado is proprietary information, and could not be released, he said.
It’s unclear what caused the outage, Kelley said, but workers received warnings from the network last night that it was affected.
Thunderstorms were prevalent across the Western Slope last night, but Kelley said he could only speculate at this point that the outage was weather-related.
