Volunteers needed to join search for missing men

Price, Utah — The Carbon County Sheriff’s Department and the Abby and Jennifer Recovery Foundation are seeking volunteers to assist in the search for Mark Widegren and Brian Axe.

Volunteers who can navigate rugged terrain, including mud, snow and cold temperatures are asked to check in at the Holiday Inn Express in Price, 838 Westwood Blvd. According to a press release provided by the Abby and Jennifer Recovery Foundation and the men’s family members, this is an organized search with specific areas to cover. Law enforcement began an aerial search of the area yesterday with a fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter, and continues to do so today, with weather cooperating.

The search is also accepting donations to cover lodging, food, fuel and other search costs at Wells Fargo banks, in the “Brian Axe and Mark Widegren Search and Rescue Fund.”

Widegren and Axe were last seen at 11:30 p.m. at a restaurant in Price, Utah. They were working on a pipeline for W.C. Streigel Inc. in Nine Mile Canyon. The men were driving a gold 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with Colorado license plate 724-TDP.

At this point there are no leads and the search is expanding to include all of Carbon County, by air, vehicle and on foot, the release said.
