Waterline breaks on Patterson
City of Grand Junction pipeline maintenance crews spent much of Monday afternoon and evening repairing a waterline break on Patterson Road.
Water began filling the hole where crews were working to connect old and new waterlines around 1 p.m. Monday on Patterson Road and 15th Street, Road, city spokeswoman Kristin Winn said.
Winn said the waterline remained on until Ute Water supplied a temporary waterline to St. Mary’s Life Center at 1100 Patterson Road around 4 p.m. Monday.
St. Mary’s Life Center as well as most businesses in the Village Fair Shopping Center on the southwest corner of 12th Street and Patterson Road and about 25 homes and multiple apartments from 12th to 15th streets were without city water Monday evening while crew members drained the hole where the break occurred.
The city is replacing aging water and sewer lines on Patterson and North Avenue and at various locations around Mesa State College throughout the summer.
Until 7 a.m. today, 12th Street at Patterson Road will be closed while crews tie new waterline to Village Fair.
Motorists traveling north on 12 Street can turn east or west at Bookcliff Avenue; those going south can turn west at Patterson.
