Interstate reopened at Vail Pass

High country snows have made traveling along Interstate 70 though the mountains difficult today, closing the road for a time eastbound in the Vail area.

The road is now back open at Vail Pass, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Multiple accidents forced the closure of I-70 eastbound at mile marker 180, but crews now have the stretch of road open again.

The road was also closed westbound at Silverthorne, from mile marker 203 to the Frisco exit, for a time, but road crews now have that section back open. The alternate route over Loveland Pass in the area is still closed, according to CDOT.

Check back for road conditions updates, or go to cotrip.org for the latest road closure information.
