Whitewater woman expected to survive after being shot by cops in Utah
SALT LAKE CITY — A Colorado woman is in critical condition but expected to survive after being shot in the face by a Morgan County sheriff’s deputy following a high-speed pursuit in northern Utah.
Officials have identified the woman as Kristine Nicole Biggs, a 41-year-old from Whitewater, Colo., near Grand Junction. She started the 30-mile chase by speeding away from police late Sunday night after they tried to pull her pickup over for a broken headlight.
After driving over spike strips, the woman rammed into two sheriff’s deputies vehicles. She ignored calls to get out of her car, leading to a deputy firing once at her windshield.
Biggs is in stable condition. She had an arrest warrant in her home state for a wildlife-related felony.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
