Who Dat rethinking possible legal action?

One super battle in New Orleans may have already concluded. The National Football League has apparently backed away from the claim that it owns the rights to the New Orleans Saints’ catch phrase, Who Dat.

Earlier, the NFL sent letters to shop owners in New Orleans, such as people selling “Who Dat?” t-shirts,informing them they would have to pay for the right to sell items with the phrase on it.

But, when the issue became a political kerfuffle with Louisiana congressmen, senators and the governor threatening possible action, the NFL changed its tune. Now it says that there’s only a problem if merchants use the phrase in conjunction with an NFL or New Orleans Saints logo.

No doubt some folks at the NFL are wondering Who Dat came up with the idea to go after merchants in the first place?
