Woman faces criminal charges in Colo. art attack

LOVELAND — A woman accused of destroying a controversial artwork in Loveland is due to make her first court appearance.

Witnesses told police that 56-year-old Kathleen Folden of Kalispell, Mont. used a crowbar Wednesday to smash a display case containing a print that critics say portrays Jesus engaged in a sex act. She then tore it up and was arrested at the city’s museum.

Folden was still behind bars today and was set to appear before a judge by video later in the day to learn about what charges she faces. She’ll also find out whether she’ll be allowed to post bond.

Folden was wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “My Savior Is Tougher Than Nails” when she was arrested.

Police removed the remains of the print from the museum, which has reopened.
