Woman wounded by suspect in Pear Park area

A woman reportedly suffered injuries to the head and back after being beaten by a black male suspect shortly before 2 p.m. today in Grand Junction, according to Mesa County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Heather Benjamin.

The incident occurred at Barnes Electric, 2811 Riverside Parkway, according to local law enforcement scanner traffic. A male suspect was spotted driving on 29 Road in a silver sports car following the incident, according to scanner traffic. A witness at the scene said he saw one man attack the woman and another man drove the car away from the scene with the suspect in the vehicle.

The woman was conscious but bleeding as of 2 p.m. and at least one ambulance was sent to the scene. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. Visit gjsentinel.com for more information as this story develops.
