Wyoming senator’s legislation would overturn new oil and gas rules

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso has joined Utah Sen. Bob Bennett in introducing legislation that would overturn new Interior Department oil and gas rules.

The bill aims to eliminate what the Republican senators call the bureaucratic red tape and increased delays that will result from the new rules.

Barrasso says the nation cannot afford the Obama administration’s red-tape regulations for onshore oil and gas development.

He says the regulations will do nothing to reduce litigation and will do everything to hamstring energy jobs and energy security.

Fellow Wyoming Republican Sen. Mike Enzi is among the co-sponsors.
